Portugal 1970/71 - Vitorino Bastos

Vem aqui uma verdaderia raridade. Aqui apresento uma camisola alternativa do início da década 70, que foi utilizada por Vitorino Bastos, antiga estrela do Sporting.
Ele foi defesa central do clube lisboaeta durante nove épocas, ganhando três campeonatos, três Taças e uma Supertaça. A sua carreira nas Selecções limitou-se ás camadas jovens onde fez parte da equipa que alcançou o terceiro lugar no Torneio de Juventude da UEFA em 1968.
Depois de terminar a sua carreira como jogador sempre ficou ligado ao seu clube e assumiu funções de treinador adjunto de Inácio na época de Campeão em 2000 e 2002.
Esta camisola da Selecçao foi utilizada por ele durante um jogo de qualificação para o Campeonato da Europa Sub 21 contra a Dinamarca.
Vitorino Bastos faleceu no dia 30 de Maio 2006 após doença prolongada, com apenas 56 anos.

This shirt is a true gem. It is a match worn Portugal away shirt out of the early 70´s. It was worn by Vitorino Bastos a former Sporting Lisbon star.
He was a central defender who started playing for the Lisbon club in 1969, representing it for 9 years. In this period he won 3 Championships, 3 Cups and 1 Supercup. His carreer in the National Team was limited to the youth squads where he was a member of the team that reached the third place in the 1968 edition of the UEFA Youth Tournament.
After his carreer as player he stayed linked to his club and in 2000 he was assistant coach of Inácio when Sporting became Champion again after 18 years.
Vitorino bastos died on 30th of May at the age of just 56 years.
This Portugal shirt was match worn by him during a qualifying match for the European Youth Championship.

Benfica 1993/94

Finalmente consegui uma camisola com o patrocinio do Casino Estoril. O Benfica utilizou esse patrocinador durante duas épocas, sendo esta camisola utilizada durante a segunda.
Infelizmente nao tenho mais informações sobre esta camisola, por isso não posso dar indicações acerca do jogador ou o jogo em que foi utilizada.

Finally i have the opportunity to present a shirt with Casino Estoril sponsorship. Benfica shirts had this sponsor on it for two years and the 93/94 season was the second.
Unfortunately i don´t have any information when or by whom this shirt was worn, but it is a match worn Benfica shirt.

Portugal 2008/09 - Deco

A primeira estação de Anderson Luiz de Souza, conhecido por Deco, foi o S.L. Benfica. Mas ele nem jogou para as Águias porque foi logo emprestado ao Alverca. Depois de uma passagem por o Salgueiros chegou ao FC Porto em 1999 e foi Campeão logo na primeira época. Depis de três anos mais calmos evoluiu bastante e tornou se o Mágico antes de, em 2003, se sagrar mais uma vez Campeão e também vencendo a Taça UEFA, seguido por a Liga dos Campeões em 2004.
Foi vendido ao Barcelona no verão de 2004 por uma verba de 15m€ mais o passe de Ricardo Quaresma que por sua vez ingressou no FC Porto. No clube caltalão ganhou mais uma vez o título mais importante da Europa em 2006. No Chelsea ele reencontrou o seu antigo técnico da Selecção, Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Esse tambem foi o treinador que o lancou na Selecção em 2003 num amigável contra o seu pais natal, Brasil. Foi naturalizado pouco antes e houve muita polémica mas logo nesse primeiro jogo ele também marcou o seu primeiro golo através de um livre directo. Deco foi jogador fundamental na exibição de Portugal no Europeu de 2004. Em 2006 e 2008 ele foi jogador da Selecçao portuguesa no Mundial e no Europeu. Depois do Mundial de 2010 ele já fez prever que ele nao jogará mais para a Selecção de Portugal.
Esta camisola dele foi preparada para ele no jogo contra a Turquia durante o Europeu 2008.

Anderson Luiz de Souza arrived at Benfica in 1997 but was immediately lent to Alverca where he played one season before moving to Salgueiros. In 1999 he was signed by Porto and became Champion in his first season there. In the following years he became known als "The Magician" and lead Porto to a further title in 2003 and the UEFA Cup. The following year was even more successful as he cand his team could lift the Champions League Cup.
In Summer 2004 he was sold to Barcelona and quickly showed his impact into the squad. Just 2 years later he could win the CL again.
In 2008 he moved to Chelsea to meet his former National Team Coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari. Unfortunately his time at Chelsea wasn´t very lucky and so he decided to go back to Brazil in 2010.
After becoming portuguese citizen in 2003 he had his first appereance for the portuguese side in 2003 in a friendly vs. his native country Brazil. He scored a goal and gave Porugal the first victory over Brazil in a few decades.
Deco was influential player for Portugal during the 2004 and 2008 EC and the 2006 WC. He already anounced that he will end his international carrer after the 2010 WC in South Africa.
The shirt i am able to show here is a match prepared for the match vs Turkey during the EC in 2008.

Benfica 2006/07 - Nuno Gomes

Nuno Gomes é o actual capitão de equipa do S.L. Benfica. O seu nome é Nuno Miguel Soares Pereira Ribeiro, mas por questão de admiração por Fernando Gomes, ele ficou conhecido por o nome dele. Ele é o jogador do plantel actual com o maior número de golos para o Benfica, que já ultrapassam os 150, e o registam como 10° melhor marcador do clube.
Vindo do Boavista em 1997 donde ele se despediu com 21 golos e a Taça de Portugal, teve 3 épocas seguidas com mais de 20 golos marcados. Na Holanda e na Bélgica ele tambem ganhou fama fora de Portugal. Os quatro golos marcados no torneio não passaram despercebidos e logo depois do torneio foi contratado por a Fiorentina, onde permaneceu por duas épocas. Em 2002 voltou para o Benfica e a época 2009/10 é a 12a dele com a Águia ao peito. No Benfica ele sagrou se campeão em 2005, vencedor da Taça em 2004, duas Supertaças e duas Taças da Liga.
A camisola aqui apresentada foi preparada para o jogo da Liga do Campeões contra o Celtic, em que ele marcou o segundo golo.


Nuno Gomes is the actual captain of Benfica. His name is Nuno Miguel Soares Pereira Ribeiro. Gomes is his nickname that he adopted in honours of former Porto striker Fernando Gomes. He is the player with the most goals in the squad, counting more than 150 and is currently #10 on the best scorer list of Benfica. Nuno got famous outside Portugal during the Euro 2000 where he scored 4 goals. Afterwards he was signed by Fiorentina where he played 2 years before he came back to Benfica again. Since then he was Portuguese Champion in 2005, Cup Winner in 2004, Supercup Winner in 2004 and 2005 and Winner of the past two editions of the League Cup. Furthermore he played a European Final in 2004 for Portugal and was European Champion of U18 in 1994. In 12 years at Benfica he had more than 350 appereances with the eagle on his chest.
This shirt was prepared for him for the home match vs. Celtic, where he scored the second goal.

Portugal 1993/94

Esta camisola foi utilizada por um jogador das Selecção Sub 18 no Campeonato Europeu em 1994 na Espanha. A Selecção das Quinas sagrou se Campeã dessa Competição por a primeira vez nesse ano após de ter vencida a Alemanha na Final por 4:1 na transformação de grandes penalidades. Sairam dessa equipa grandes nomes como Nuno Gomes, Beto, Peixe e Quim.


This shirt is a match worn shirt by a Sub 18 player at the 1994 European Championship in Spain. The portuguese team won this title for the first time in that year by beating Germany in the Final 4:1 after penalty shootout.
This team had some well known names like Nuno Gomes, Beto, Peixe ou Quim amongst it.

Aqui posso apresentar uma camisola utilizada da nossa Selecçao de 1981. Lembramos-nos que a Selecçao, com poucas excepcoes, sempre utiliza camisolas brancas como alternativas. Aqui temos uma verde, que nunca vi ser utilizada. Se alguem tiver informacoes sobre esta camsiola, por favor contacte me.


Here i can present a Portugal match worn shirt that can´t been worn very often. As most of you might know, Portugal almost ever had white away shirts. This one is a green one out of the 1981/82 season, as far as i´m informed. In fact i don´t know exactly when it was used but i´m quite sure that it is a shirt worn or prepared in 1981/82.

Portugal 1976/77 - Alves

João António Ferreira Resende Alves, melhor conhecido por „Luvas Pretas“, vestiu esta camisola durante um jogo particular contra a Itália em 1976. O jogo ficou marcado por duas ocorrências. A primeira foi uma exibição fenomenal de Alves durante o jogo, e a segunda foi a detenção do secretário geral da FPF, César Grácio. À saída do país transalpino foi preso por exportação ilícta de divisas. O que aconteceu foi que ele tinha recebido 30.000 dólares para o jogo, mas assinou um recibo sobre 28 milhões de liras. Foi condenado a oito meses de prisão, mas foi posto em liberdade depois de alguns dias.
Voltando para João Alves, a razão dele por vestir as luvas pretas, foi o falecimento do seu avô. Ele ganhou fama em 1974 no Boavista, onde permaneceu duas épocas, ganhando duas Taças de Portugal. Despertou interesse na Espanha onde assinou pelo Salamanca e até foi eleito melhor estrangeiro, ainda antes de Cruyff e Kempes. No Benfica teve quatro épocas, interrompidas por um ano no PSG, onde ganhou mais duas Taças e dois Campeonatos. Para Portugal disputou 36 jogos, marcando 3 golos.


João Alves was well known as „Luvas Pretas“, the man who always wore black gloves. Proudly i can present a Portugal shirt match worn by him during a match, that on the first sight doesn´t seem to be nothing special. In fact, the match was not, despite the superbe exhibition of Joao Alves. What was memorable was that the secretary of the FPF, César Grácio, went into prison for the illegal traffic of foreign exchange. For the match he received an amount of 30.000 US Dolars, but signed a receipt corresponding to the equivalent in Italian Lira. When he was asked to open the case, he did so never thinking of something strange. After having checked the receipt and the money, he was arrested. In the end he was condemned to 8 months of prision, but in the end he could leave after one week.
Coming back to João Alves, the reason for using black gloves was the mourning about his grandfaters death. Later it became his trademark. He played for Boavista two seasons, winning the cup twice. Afterwards he was signed by Salamanca in Spain where he was voted best foreigner, ahead of Cruyff in 1977. Furthermore he played for Benfica and PSG. Among his titles he won two championships and two further Cups with Benfica. He was capped 36 times, scoring 3 goals.
