Portugal 2006 - Nuno Gomes



Nuno Miguel Soares Pereira Ribeiro nasceu dia 5 de Julho 1976 em Amarante.
A sua carreira nas Seleções Nacionais comecou cedo. Com apenas 14 anos ja foi convidado para jogar nos Sub-15. Ao longo da sua carreira como jogador, ele representou todos escalões. Em 1995 ajudou a conquistar o terceiro lugar no Mundial Sub-20, ao marcar 4 golos. No ano seguinte representou Portugal nos Jogos Olimpicos, alcançando um excelente 4° lugar.
Para a Seleção A foi chamado pela primeira vez em 1996. Depois demorou algum tempo para se afirmar como primeira opção. Foi no Euro 2000 que a sua estrela brilhou bem clara. No jogo de abertura, provavelmente um dos melhores jogos de uma Seleção portuguesa, cabeu a ele fechar o marcador para bater a Inglaterra 3:2, depois de Portugal ter estado a perder por 0:2. A partir de aí ele jogou com mais regularidade, dando contributo importante para o apuramento de Portugal para o Mundial 2002.
Durante o Euro 2004 ele jogou em todos jogos e marcou um golo. Após varias lesões durante a qualificação para o Mundial 2006, foi chamado mais uma vez para representar Portugal num Mundial. Apenas fez dois jogos, mas marcou o unico golo de Portugal no jogo de consolação.
Deixou os grandes palcos internacionais no dia 11 de Outubro 2011, num jogo contra a Dinamarca.
Durante a sua carreira disputou um total de 143 jogos, distribuidos por todos escalões, entre eles 79 jogos para a Seleção A. Marcou 29 golos como senior e foi Vice Campeão Europeu em 2004 e terceiro no Euro 2000.
Esta camsiola foi preparada para o jogo contra a Polonia em 2006.

Nuno Miguel Soares Pereira Ribeiro was born on 5th of July 1976 in Amarante/Portugal.
His National Team career startet at the age of only 14, when he lined up for the U15 team. During his long career he represented every level. In 1995 e.g. he helped Portugal secure 3rd place during the U20 WC. The following year he was part of the team that becam 4th at the Atlanta Olympic Games.
He was called to the senior team for the first time in 1996, in a friendly vs France. After that it took a while to establish.
His breakthrough came in 2000 during the Euro in Belgium and the Netherlands. He scored the winner, in one of the best matches a portugese team ever played, vs England to seal a 3:2 after being down 0:2. After the Euro he played an important role in the qualification of Portugal for the WC 2002.
During the 2004 Euro he played in every game and socred a goal. After many injuries during the qualification campaign for the 2006 WC he only made two appereances in Germany, but scored the only goal in a 3:1 defeat vs Germany.
He had his last appereance on 11th of October 2011 in a match vs Denmark.
He played a total of 143 matches on all levels, among those 79 matches for the senior team, and scored 29 goals. He was runner up at thr 2004 Euro and thrid placed at the 2000 Euro.
The shirt was prepared for him for the match vs Poland in 2006.
