Benfica 2007 - Oscar Cardozo

Já me referi a Oscar Cardozo durante os posts passados e por isso apenas quero deixar aqui alguma informacão que aínda não publiquei ou que entretanto alterou.
Oscar Cardozo deixou o Benfica no fim da época 2013/14 depois de uma época que foi marcada em princípio pela sua lesão, que o deixou fora dos relvados por dois mêses e meio.
Durante as sete épocas no Benfica ele tornou se provavelmente o melhor jogador estrangeiro do clube. Foi seis vezes o melhor marcador da equipa (apenas não o consegui na sua última época) e por duas vezes ganhou a bola de prata. Em total ele disputou 292 jogos (175 na Liga) e marcou 172 golos (112 na Liga), o que o põe em primeiro lugar dos marcadores estrangeiros.
Ele ganhou dois Campeonatos e uma Taça de Portugal. Para mais ele disputou duas Finais da Liga Europa e é o segundo melhor marcador do Benfica na Europa.
Mesmo tendo sido criticado pela falta de velocidade, ele é uma lenda do clube. A maneira como ele representou e sentiu (e sente) o clube, dentro e fora do relvado, foi exemplar e com muita dedicação e paixão. Lembro-me dele a ser um dos homens a transportar o caixão de Eusébio para o cemitério e chorar tanto... Ou depois da Final da Taça de Portugal 2013, que perdemos frente ao Guimarães, onde ele, certamente com muito fervor e indignação, culpou Jorge Jesus por erros táticos.
Foi uma honra tê-lo visto jogar e saber que ele levou o Benfica no coração. Eu acho que mais tarde, vamos contar histórias, sobre ele e o que fez pelo Benfica, aos nossos netos...

I alredy gave some data about Oscar Cardozo in previous posts, why i will only add new information or where data changed.
Oscar Cardozo left Benfica at the end of the 2013/14 season for a fee of €5m for Trabzobspor in Turkey. His las season was mainly marked by an absence of 2.5 months due to injury.
During his seven seasons at the club he was six times best scorer of the team and won the silver ball, for best scorer in Portugal, twice. He played 292 matches (175 in the league) and scored 172 goals (112 in the league). This makes out of him the best foreign scorer ever of Benfica.
He won the Championship twice and one Portuguese Cup. Furthermore he played two Europe League Finals and is the second best scorer for the club in european competitions.
Even he was much criticized for the lack of velocity he is a true Benfica legend. The way he represented and felt the club was spot on. I remember him being one of the men carrying Eusebios coffin to the cemetery and crying like a child... Another occasion e.g. was after the 2013 Cup Final where the attacked the coach (certainly due to disappointment) and blamed him for tactical errors.
It was an honour having seen him playing and knowing that he took the club in his heart. One day we'll be telling stories about him to our grand kids.

Procuro estas camisolas do Benfica e da Seleccao... / Want to buy these Benfica and Portugal shirts...

Como recentemente mostrei algumas camisolas dos anos passados, que procuro para a minha colecção, hoje refiro-me a camisolas mais antigas. Em principio sao isso camisolas dos anos 80 e das décadas anteriores. Sao as camisolas dos tempos que estão à beira de sobreviver os portadores, que mais me interessam.
Eu sou adepto e imagino o significado dos "mantos sagrados" para os jogadores. Sinto a paixão que se vive nos grandes momentos e a desilusão que segue aos menos bons. Sempre foi algo especial conseguir as camisolas que foram vestidas em momentos importantes. Pelo respeito por os jogadores que defenderam as nossas cores, aínda nunca vesti uma das camisolas que tenho na colecção. Guardo as e tento conserva-las para o futuro, tal como as histórias delas, se for possivel.
Por isso quero me dirigir diretamente a jogadores antigos, familiares e amigos, tal como adeptos que guardam essas camisolas e memórias consigo.
Se tiverem camisolas desses tempos (mesmo se não forem aqui mostradas) e por qualquer razão quizerem vender alguma, ou colecções, podem me contactar através do mail no meu pérfil. Se quizerem posso tratar o seu assunto confidencial, se não, algum dia aparecerão aqui, neste site.

As i recently showed some shirts i'm looking for, of the past few seasons, this time i would like to take the opportunity to go a little bit deeper into history and mention older shirts. The shirts i'm looking for are mainly out of the 80s and older. Shirts and jerseys that are now in an age where they survived the original holder of it, are the most fascinating for me.
I'm a fan and able to imagine the significance of the shirts for the players and the ones who swapped them. I feel the passion in great moments and the frustration in bad ones. It always was something special to get hold of a shirt and learn the story behind it. For the respect for those who wore them, i never tried one of the shirts on. I keep them safe for the future, as i do with the stories that i have been told about them.
For that reason i would like to ask former players, family members and friends, and fans that have such shirts or know of the stories. Portugal 1986 - Bandeirinha

Fernando Oscar Bandeirinha Barbosa nasceu a 26 de Novembro 1962 no Porto.
Completou a sua formação no FC Porto, fazendo parte dela desde 1976 até integrar no plantel principal na época 1981/82. Apenas disputou um jogo e foi emprestado ao Paços de Ferreira durante as duas épocas seguintes. Enquanto a sua passagem pelo Paços não foi muito feliz, os dois anos seguintes, que passou no Varzim e no Académica, foram bem mais fortunos. Ele jogou grande parte das épocas como titular, o que levou o seu clube a nao o emprestar mais e integrar no platel a partir de 1986.
Durante as suas dez épocas, ele jogou 170 jogos e marcou 9 golos. Ele ganhou quase tudo o que havia a ganhar a nível de clube. Isso foram 6 Campeonatos nacionais, 3 Taças de Portugal e 5 Supertaças. Para mais ele ganhou uma Taça Intercontinental, uma Taça dos Campeões Europeus e uma Supertaça Europeia.
Hoje ele trabalha no departamento de scouting do FC Porto.
Ele nunca jogou um jogo para a Selecção, mas foi um dos escolhidos para o Mundial de 1986. Esta camisola foi vestida por ele durante o jogo com o Marrocos onde ele não saiu do banco.


Fernando Oscar Bandeirinha Barbosa was born on 26th of November 1962 in the city of Porto.
He went through all the youth stages at FC Porto before being promoted to the first team in 1981. During his starting season he only had one apereance before being loaned to Paços de Ferreira for the next two seasons. Whilst his spell at the northern portuguese club was not very successful, his next two years, on loan at Varzim and Académica de Coimbra, were right on the opposite. He played plenty of games, starting most of them as a first lineup. This huge step in his career led Porto to integrate him again in the 1986/87 season, where he stayed for the next ten years.
During this time he played 170 matches and scored 9 goals as right full back. He won nearly everything a player can win on a club level. It starts with six national Championships, 3 Cups and 5 Supercups. On an international level he won a Champions Cup, an European Supercup and the Intercontinental Cup in 1987.
Nowadays he's working for the scouting department of the club he represented.
Bandeirinha never had a cap for Portugal, but was among the chosen players for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. This shirt was worn by him during the match vs. Morrocco where he was substitute.

Benfica 1974 - José Luis

José Luis Lopes Costa e Silva nasceu a 17 de Maio 1958 em Lisboa. Obteve a sua formação no Benfica desde o início dos anos 70 e foi duas vezes campeão durante Junior.
Na época de 76/77 mudou-se para a equipa principal com apenas 18 anos e teve logo um ano em grande com 25 jogos disputados e o titulo de Campeão. Ele destacou-se pela grande garra e dedicação ao jogo e mesmo não sendo a estrela do plantel, foi ele um dos jogadores a ajudarem as estrelas brilhar.
Infelizmente ele também passou algum tempo lesionado, o que travou o seu desenvolvimento, mas sempre conseguiu voltar ocupar o lugar de extremo direito. Mais tarde e por opção do treinador passou para trinco.
Em total passou 11 épocas no Benfica com 226 jogos disputados e 21 golos marcados. Ele ganhou 5 campeonatos e 6 Taças de Portugal, mais duas Supertaças.
Depois da sua carreira no Benfica ele aínda foi jogador do plantel do Maritimo durante 4 épocas.
Mais tarde ele iniciou carreira como treinador, sendo Seleccionador da equipa do Timor Leste e varias outras equipas asiaticas.
A camisola apresentada foi utilizada por ele durante a época em que ganhou o seu primeiro titulo como Junior B na época 1974/75.

José Luis Lopes Costa e Silva was born on May 17th, 1958 in Lisbon, where he also began to play football at Benfica. During his time as a Junior he won 2 championships already.
in 76/77 he started his professional carreer and had a fantastic year, playing 25 matches and clinching the title at the end of the season. He was known for being very dedicated and having a talent to put the stars into play.
Unfortunately he also had some periods of injury that limited his development but he managed always to come back and win his space on the right wing. Later he was transformed into a central defender.
He played 11 seasons at Benfica reaching 226 matches and 21 goals. His silverware starts at 5 Championships, 6 Cups and ends with 2 Supercups.
Later he moved to Maritimo, where he have 4 more seasons as player. As a coach he was in charge of the NT of East-Timor and several other south-east Asian teams.
This shirt was worn by him during his time as a Junior. Precisely during the 74/75 season where he became Champion as a Sub17 player.

Portugal 1973 - Octávio Machado

Octávio Joaquim Coelho Machado nasceu a 6 de Maio 1949 em Plamela, no concelho de Setúbal. Na sua juventude jogou pelo seu clube natal, o Palmelense antes de seguir o caminho para o Vitória de Setúbal. Estreou-se na equipa principal em 1968 e depois de pouco tempo foi uma peça fundamental na equipa de José Maria Pedroto. A sua qualidade como médio deu nas vistas a vários clubes, mas ele permaneceu na equipa do Sado até 1975, chegando a um segundo e dois terceiros lugares na Primeira Liga.
No verão de 1975 deixou Setúbal com destino FC Porto. Aí voltou a reencontrar o seu treinador até 1974, José Maria Pedroto, que assumio o cargo de treinador principal do FC Porto em 1976. Os títulos não tardaram e logo em 1976 ele venceu a Taça de Portugal e nas duas épocas seguintes, juntaram se dois Campeonatos.
O "verão quente" de 1980 resulta na saída de Octávio (e vários outros jogadores) do FC Porto, e no regresso a Setúbal, onde terminou a sua carreira como jogador em 1983. Durante as 15 épocas ele disputou 307 jogos, marcando 25 golos.
Seguiram-se vários compromissos como treinador adjunto e treinador principal, dos quais aqui quero mencionar a sua estação no FC Porto entre 1984 e 1992, que foram repletos de titulos: 5 Campeonatos, 2 Taças, 3 Supertaças, 1 Taça dos Campeões Europeus, 1 Supertaça Europeia e 1 Taça Intercontinetal.
Octávio Machado foi Internacional A por Portugal 20 vezes, e a camsiola apresentada foi utilizada por ele durante o Jogo de qualificação para o Mundial 1974, realizado a 14 de Novembro 1973 contra a Irlânda do Norte.

Octávio Joaquim Coelho Machado was born on May 6th, 1949 in Palmela, a village in the Setúbal district. He started playimg footbal at his hometown club before moving to Vitória Setúbal, where he had his first matches as a professional player in 1968. It didn´t take too long before he was first choice under José Maria Pedroto and helped the club reaching one second place and two third spots in the portuguese top flight. There were quite a few clubs interested in his services, like Atletico Madrid or Zaragoza, but he remained at Setúbal until 1975.
That summer FC Porto managed to sign him and quickly he imposed himself vs his colleagues to become a pilar of his new club. His qualities as a visionary midfielder weren't needed to convince his new and, at the same time, old coach José Maria Pedroto, whom he met again in 1976. Together they managed to win the Championship in 1978 and 1979. After some kind of "mutiny" in the summe of 1980, where he stood on the side of JMP vs the president, he (and many other players) left the club. Machado returned to Setúbal and ended his career as a player in 1983, after 307 league matches and 25 goals.
After that he had several spells as (assistant) coach, whereof i only want to mention his time at FC Porto between 1984 and 1992. In that time they won 5 Championships, 2 Cups, 3 Supercups, 1 European Champions Cup , 1 European Supercup and 1 Intercontinental Cup.
Octávio was capped 20 times for Portugal between 1971 and 1977, scoring 1 goal. This shirt was used by him during the WCQ in 1973 vs. Northern Ireland.

Benfica 1981 - Veloso

O Benfica tinha vindo se uma seca em que lhe tinha escapado o Campeonato por três épocas consecutivas. Foi durante a primeira temporada de Veloso no Benfica, que conseguiram dar a volta e sagrar se novamente campeões em 1980/81. Foi uma grande época para o clube, ja que também chegaram às meias-finais da Taça das Taças, onde perderam com o Carl-Zeiss Jena.
Assim então o escudo de campeão voltou para a manga da camisola durante a época seguinte. Uma camisola que aqui mostro.
Veloso nessa época foi aínda mais influente que na época de estreia, jogando 37 jogos oficiais e quase todos eles como titular. Foi o arranque de uma grande carreira, repleta de títulos e grandes momentos.
A camisola basicamente não mudou comparada com o modelo do ano anterior. Apenas o escudo de campeão faz a diferênça.

Benfica was three years without winning the championship. During his first year at the club Veloso helped to clinch the cup again in 1980/81. It was a great season for Benfica as they also reached the semis in Cup Winners Cup, where they lost to Carl Zeiss Jena.
So finally the champions crest returned to the arms of the shirts during the following season. The shirt is out of that 1981/82 season.
Veloso was even more influential during his second season with 37 matches played and almost all of them in the starting line-up. It was the beginning of what would become a great career with many titles and successes.
The shirt basically didn't change to the model of the previous year. Only the above mentioned crest makes the difference.
