Portugal 2008/09 - Postiga

Helder Postiga nasceu a 02 de Agosto 1982. Ele iniciou a sua carreira profissional no FC Porto em 2001. A estreia na Selecção foi em Fevereiro 2003 num jogo particular contra a Itália. Nessa época ele tinha criado alguma atenção depois de excelentes exibições na Liga e durante a campanha do FC Porto na Taça UEFA, que terminou com o título. Na época seguinte transferiu-se para o Tottenham onde nao jogou com regularidade. Mesmo assim foi convocado para o EURO2004 em Portugal, e quem viu o jogo contra a Inglaterra e o seu golo, certamente concorda comigo que valeu a pena.
Como o esquema táctico português apenas joga com um ponta de lance, e Pauleta era titular indiscutível, Postiga nao passou de ser segunda escolha para essa posição, mas mesmo ser substituto, ele ia marcando os seus golos, assim tambem durante o EURO2008 contra a Alemanha, mas foi insuficiente para impedir a eliminação do torneio.
Esta camisola foi preparada para ele para o jogo contra a Suíça durante o EURO2008.

Helder Postiga was born on Aug. 2nd 1982. He started his professional career at FC Porto in 2001. He gained some attention in the portugues League and during the UEFA Cup just two years later and so he was capped for the first time for Portugal in a friendly vs. Italy in Feb. 2003. After Porto had lifted the UEFA Cup, Postiga left for new territories and was signed by Tottenham. Unfortunately he couldn´t adopt to british football and played just 19 matches, scoring 2 goals.
Nevertheless he was part of the portugese team during the EURO2004 and maybe showed his best performance during the legendary match vs. England, where he scored the equalizer.
In the following years he always was considered as a substitute for Pauleta but still managed to score some goals and so he made it to the EURO2008, where he scored a goal vs. Germany.
