Portugal European Futsal Champion 2018

Much has been written about Renato Sanches the last years... From the boy wonder to the algated doubts about his age, and his difficult time abroad.
Renato Junior Luz Sanches was born on 18th of August 1997 in Amadora, but was registered only five years later, when he was baptised. This brought up some doubts about his age many years later, by persons that tried to influence his carrer. In the end everything was solved and proved that his age and date of birth were correct.
He started playing in his neighbourhood for Águias da Musgueira. At the age of nine he was discovered by Benfica scouts and convinced to play for the club. During the next years he played all youth levels and finally was awarded a professional contract in 2014, when he started playing for the reserve team. He had his first appereance in october 2014. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he began training with the first team but continued playing for the reserves and the juniors in the Youth League. After some trouble at the beginning of the season, Rui Vitoria had to find a solution for his midfield and brought him into match in Octiber 2015 against Tondela. Only a few weeks later he already played in the Champions League and had his breakthrough. Starting from this point he became first choice and had an enormous impact on the team and finally the winning of the treble.
National team manager Fernando Santos invited him to represent the country at the Euro 2016, that Portugal eventually won the first time. His impact was also important.
In summer 2016 Bayern München signed him for a fee of €35m plus objectives. Unfortunately he couldn`t create the same influence that he had at Benfica and spent most of the time on the bench. At the beginning of this season he was loaned to Swansea until summer 2018.
The shirt shown above was prepared for the match vs Maritimo. It was a match where he was booked twice and sent off.
