O jogo contra a Grécia foi o penultimo ensaio para o Euro 1996. Portugal tinha se qualificado para um grande torneio pela primeira vez há dez anos e o Seleccionador aproveitou este jogo para testar alguns jogadores que não foram opcão muitas vezes durante o apuramento.
Com uma equipa pouco habituada a jogar junta, não deu para fazer uma grande exibição, mas o resultado final foi 1:0 favoravel a nós.
Este jogo foi o último de Fernando Mendes que foi chamado 11 vezes à Selecção durante um período de dez anos.
The match vs. Greece was the next to last before the beginning of the Euro 1996 in England. Portugal qualified for the first time in ten years for a major tournament and our coach took the chance in this match to test a few players not used so often during the qualifiers.
As the team wasn´t used to play together too often, it wasn´t a very good match but still with the better end for Portugal.
This shirt belonged to Fernando Mendes who had his last cap. He was called 11 times in a period of 10 years.
